BEFORE
AFTERFull wood restoration, not just a rinse
Decks and fences may need a sequence of cleaning, appropriate chemical treatment and preparation depending on wood condition and the intended finish. We assess the wood and discuss the scope before quoting restoration work.
Project details that help
Describe the wood type if known, age, existing coatings, approximate dimensions and desired result. Send photos when convenient.
Based in Oakley, Kodiak prioritizes Mid-Michigan residential and commercial projects. Larger commercial inquiries across Michigan's Lower Peninsula are welcome for review.
A restoration process built around the wood
Wood restoration involves more than spraying dirt off a deck or fence. Surface condition, previous finishes and the desired outcome determine the appropriate steps.
Decks and fences
Cleaning and restoration planning for weathered outdoor wood, subject to a condition assessment.
Coatings and preparation
Old stain, paint or sealer may change the scope. Stripping, brightening, sanding or other preparation may be discussed when appropriate.
Finish expectations
Wood species, age and previous treatment affect color and uniformity. Confirm any staining or sealing scope explicitly in the written estimate.
Frequently asked questions
Is wood restoration the same as pressure washing?
No. Restoration may involve cleaning, chemical treatment and preparation suited to the wood rather than aggressive pressure.
Will my deck look new again?
Not necessarily. Weathering, existing coatings and damage affect the result; we will discuss what is realistic.
Do you restore fences as well as decks?
Yes, ask about decks, fences and other exterior wood surfaces, with final scope determined by the site.
